We’re Going Downhill –> FAST!

Sam and Lizzy are in downhill racing this year. Sunday was their first race.

Here comes Sam. My first thought when I realized it was him was, ‘for the love of God, do your coat up!’ Then I snapped out of it and started taking photos.

As you can see, he’s enjoying the run. He was also taking in the crowd, he managed to holler out a HUGE, “HI MOM, HI DAD” as he whizzed by, which earned him a round of applause, cowbells (yep, they ring cowbells), and laughter.

He liked those cowbells! I’ll have to have a little chat with him about wind resistance –> DO UP YOUR COAT!

Go Sam Go!

Here comes my girl. Unlike her brother she is focused on the race, not the crowd. She skied really well.

Will ya look at that sky? It was a glorious day with temps around 5c (40+f), not a cloud in the sky. It was seriously GOOD for my cabin-fevered soul.

Go Lizzy Go!

Mr. MK is in charge of skiing, therefore, I didn’t even get out of bed when they left the house at 6:30 a.m. If I had aroused, I would have insisted she braid her hair. The rat’s nest … AHHH!

Then again, I was in charge of getting this wild child ready at noon, and she doesn’t look much better!

Not to be outdone Georgia managed to get in a little downhill speed herself.

It was a great day, in a fabulous city! Winter really does have it’s ups!

How was your weekend?

They sure look like the enjoyed themselves. Looks like it was a fun weekend for you all. Our weekend consisted of absolutely freezing weather, and more snow…no blue skies either!

What a beautiful day for skiing! I absolutely love to ski but we live so far from the slopes that I haven’t been able to do it often. It looks like your kiddos thoroughly enjoy it too!

Wow, how awesome!! Sam & Lizzy did so well, and the photos are spectacular. LOL at “do up your coat!” … can’t help being a Mom, eh?! But yes, I think he might go faster if he were more streamlined (ie. with buttoned up coat)!

What a beautiful day you had for it, too!

Hi! As always, wonderful pictures. Your children look so happy!
The picture of the town is really pretty. Our weekend was pretty calm
and very cold! Cindi

What amazing photos and what fun. As beach dwelling Aussies, my family only dream of what the snow must be like. We do our skiing in the river.

We went sledding on the weekend, and everyone had great fun. Today, though, it was blindingly brilliant out, but the sidewalks are sheer glass, and treacherous with a Baby Bjorn. I had to turn around. SO CLOSE.

Do I recognize that river valley? …

Eek! Your son looked like he was headed for the water!!

Love the photos!! The boat is having a day of skiing and winter sports soon for the families and I plan to have explosive diahrea that day. I am not meant to be on skis. Ever. :)

I always promised myself that I was going to actually learn to ski.
The one time I went when I was younger…no one told me to wear pants that are at least slightly waterproof. So I wore sweat pants like a goof :(
They were soaked inside of 30 minutes. Your kids look like absolute pro’s.

I tried to ski once and I spent most of the day falling down the mountain. Then I spent the rest of the week really sore and in pain. I don’t think I will ever try and ski anytime soon.

Been stuck in the house for the last week or so with -temps/wind chill. Looks like they had a wonderful time. I’d love some clear skies.

Your kids look amazing and happy, you take great pics. I love reading your blog.
I have 2 kids, ages 4 and 2, did not take them skiing yet, maybe next winter.
Can’t wait.
Isn’t it beautiful all the snow and these crystal clear skies?
