Tread Softly (& Contest Continues)

A few pictures from Mother’s Day!

Tread Softly
This one I call – ‘Tread Softly and Carry a Big Stick’.

Sam doesn’t quite have the same diplomacy policy as his sister.

Warrior
I call this one – ‘Wee Warrior’. Strangely enough that is a pelvis from a horse skeleton around his neck, and a rib in his hand. While the girls were happy to peer at the bones and nudge them with their feet; Sam felt a need to wear them. He asked if he could, “wear them to school”. “YA Right SAM!” He’s not quite as evolved as I’d hoped.

I spent Mother’s Day at ‘my’ Grandma’s farm, with my parents, aunt and uncles. After a great dinner, we all took a walk. It was a chilly spring day. It won’t be long now until summer (see the buds just coming out on the trees). I took a whole slew of pictures. Speaking of slough(s) …

Slough
This shot of the slough and the tree I call – ‘Still Water’. I agree I’m not that creative … can you think of a better name?

Finally, my favourite …

Family
A family portrait. I can’t think of a name for this one. Help me out!

Wow you take such beautiful pictures! =) I always enjoy seeing them all. My favorite though is the still water – it looks like something you would hang in your living room, or some room in your house.

I love your skills with a camera. Ever thought of selling some of your prints? They would make lovely gifts in a nice frame.

I can’t think of an English name for the last (amazing) photo because a name came to me in French first. It would be Silhouette Orageuse. I guess that translates to Stormy Silhouette!

Those photos are GREAT!

That last one made me think of LOST. Maybe you could title it “The Others”, since you are the one taking it ;)

I think you’re in the wrong industry. Your skills with a camera are absolutely amazing. I am not creative – hence I can’t think of a name for your family shot…but I would definitely be framing that one, if I were you. :)
great job and I hope you had a good Mother’s day!

I really love the family portrait. It is beautiful! I think it could be called ‘Day’s Break’ or ‘Sillouette of a Family’ or ‘Outlining Family’ or ‘Shadows of the Generations’. Just a couple of ideas anyways.

The only thing that come to my mind when I was the family picture… and I didn’t know it was a family picture when this thought entered my head… was…”They wait”. They don’t look rushed or harried, just waiting.

I’d call the last one “Generations” . You are a great photographer… I lack vision in taking pics…probably why my camera sits in the cupboard now, and I forget to take it anywhere… never much of a point when the photos are all awful (apart from a few now and then).

Kim,

Awesome pics. I would love a copy of the tree one and the family silhouette! That is my favorite tree. Fun going through the family pic and figuring out who each one is. Is it Corrie, Gayle, dad, liz, grandma, mom, gregg, rod, sam, george and Will? :) Love it!

So excited to come home. How are you feeling?

Les

I’m not sure if guys are allowed to post comments (sorry I’m new here) but I had to just quickly say that these photos are incredible! The colors from ‘Tread Softly and Carry a Big Stick’ are mesmorizing and ‘Still Water’ looks like it’s straight off of a movie poster.

I also like how in the silhouette you can still make out the pelvis bone on your son. It looks like he’s holding a lizard, so I like “Anolis Sunset”
