There’s Nothing Like a Good Book …

Books I have read, am reading, will read soon.

Books

Instead of spending a bunch of time writing tonight, I am going to spend some time reading.

What’s on your night stand? I only want to know about the books! *wink* REALLY, you keep the other info to yourself!

No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith

I wish that I wasn’t so tired every time I stopped to read.

My nightstand has no books on it…very sad, I know! i just haven’t gotten back into reading ever since I had my son…and it probably won’t be happening any time soon since baby #2 is well on her way! :)

I am reading another Jodi Picoult book called “A Perfect Match”. I have a few others lying there as well along with Canadian Living and a National Geographic to read soon. I just need more time which I don’t have nearly enough of lately!!

I love biographies. Currently on my nightstand is Jack and Rochelle: A Holocaust Story of Love and Resistance by Jack Sutin. It is a fantastic read; a tell it like it truly was type of story.

You can’t go wrong with Anne Tyler.
I am currently reading “A New Earth” by Eckhart Tolle and a Tom Clancy book.
How’s that for diversity?

I’m currently reading “The Romanov Prophecy” by Steve Berry. His thrillers are always exciting!

I have Lori Lansens’ The Girls and Margaret Atwood’s Penelopiad. I can’t get into The Girls (a story about conjoint twins) and I haven’t started Penelopiad. Just before that I was reading Barabara Gowdy’s Helpless. She’s great!

I can’t read due to my crazy life, but I am trying – I usually only read James Patterson books. However, I am working on Robin McGraw’s “Inside my Heart” right now – one month and only on page 25. I could finish a 200 pg J.Patterson in 2 days because I only had one child and dh was home more often. I only read IF I am in bed with 20 minutes or more to spare before turning out the light to go to sleep & I usually stay up to late doing jewelry. However, I have a new Mantra thanks to Robin… Here it is:
(I should let u know that I was the little girl that said from day 1 ‘I just want to be a wife and a mommy, but if I HAVE to work, I guess I will teach’ and I ALWAYS SAID THAT!)

Robin McGraw on motherhood: “Being a mother is more than a phase in my life; for me, it’s a never-ending mission, my calling here on earth. And when the time comes and I’m standing before my heavenly Father, I just want Him to say to me, “Job well done.”

She also says (for those of us wondering how she is head over heels for Dr. Phil) that she is not married to Dr. Phil – She is married to A MAN! Too funny.

Hi, I don’t typically read in bed, thus there are currently no books on my night stand. I read in our family room. There are stacks in there. Cindi

I have lots on my stand right now. Mostly because I have run out of room on my bookshelf.
I’m currently reading: Auralia’s Colors by Jeffrey Overstreet (this one has taken me weeks to read chapter 1. Not sure if it’s because I’m not interested or just too busy)

To be read pile: Split Ends by Kristin Billerbeck
The Wedding by Nicholas Sparks

and several other books.

I’m reading two books right now, 1. is a romance novel called Perfect (because I’m helpless that way) and the other is called Fight Like a Girl – it’s fabulous all about being proud of the role God’s given us as women.

Oh my hell, if I had to list the books I have in queue there would be no bandwidth left! I am a used book addict…I cannot pass the Sally Ann on Main or the County Clothesline without stopping in to “just look” at the books (god help me when garage sale season hits). I filled my nightstand cupboard…then made a tall stack beside the nightstand…then had a stack on an end table in the livingroom…then I gave up and put the next load I brought home (I swear they breed faster than stray cats) I put into a box…then I needed another box, then another…now I am hiding them in my “office” (and here I was so proud of myself for going through and cleaning and being able to walk through it…whoops) in the re-used grocery bags they put them in.

Could be worse, I could be addicted to Big Macs, right? Right??

It’s so cute, though…Emma just read her first chapter book, over the course of a week or so. I caught a glance at her on the couch, one leg curled under her, her nose in the book, and munching on a white-cheddar rice cake…apple doesn’t fall far from the tree there, does it? Hehehe.
