Lord Give Me Strength (Have a Coffee on Me Contest Continues)

I chose two winners today. I really have a tons of these cards to give away and I am SOOO happy that I am not suffering alone in toddler cup hell! So the winners are:

Miz Booshay – who I’d love to buy a billion coffees, her photos inspire me!
Bethany Actually – mom to a super cute tot, that always reminds me of my Georgia :)

Please email me @ kim (@) mommyknows (dot) com to claim your prize.

All because …
But I wanted the ...
she wanted the ‘pink’ cup!

* Sigh * – We’ve got a very grumpy girl here! I am hoping it’s just Georgia readjusting to the early mornings we’re having since school started, and not a long drawn out ‘stage’.

So what’s the popular cup color in your house?

All comments and back-links for this post will be entered to win a $10 Starbucks Gift Card (includes shipping and handling) in my ‘Have a Coffee on Me’ Contest. If you comment and blog about the contest you’ll receive two entries (too easy). I have a whole ‘schwack’ of Gift Cards to give away, so make sure and come back often for a chance to ‘have a coffee on me’.

Luckily my kids will drink out of any cup most of the time. My son does get upset when my daughter drinks out of his red valentine cup because it is his. There are some that are definitely girl cups or boy cups so they know which belongs to whom.

I know exactly how you feel, Kim!! My Tyler is VERY stubborn and strong-willed, and gets upset easily about silly things (like the colour of his cup). Most days there is a battle over a Spiderman shirt (which gosh darn it, HAS to be washed SOMETIMES!!!) and a Spiderman spoon. We got the kids to take turns with the spoon (not that Ethan really cares, but we thought it would help Tyler to have a “system) … but even that is not without it’s problems!

I looked at this pic, and before I read it I said to myself “Awhhh, what’s wrong?” Then I laughed so hard. I had to. My son did the same earlier today. Great Mommy Moments. Except he wanted a big cup, not a little cup.

I don’t do well with crying children. Even if I know that nothing is wrong with them, I don’t want them to cry. In our home, it isn’t color of the cup/glass, but more the icon or team on them. Cindi

I LOVE it!! We are a house of two little princesses and so we are always wanting the pink cup…purple will do in a pinch. I am not sure why I buy other colors, maybe I enjoy the torture or trying to reason with little ones :) HAHA

Oh man… Zoe has given me that same reaction way too often in the last week. I’m thankful school started today.

As for the cup color of choice… I gotta say it’s whichever color I didn’t pick.

Oh, I remember those days with my son and now they are starting with my daughter. The drama of “I wanted …”

Right now the Princess (pink) cup is her favorite. Or whatever Mommy is drinking. : )

yeah, we have those very same (ikea) cups! and yes, there are major fall-outs when the ‘wrong color’ is selected if i am the one selecting it (i keep them where the kids can reach, so usually they get their own). there’s no favorite color per se, just depends on the barometric pressure as to whether or not there will be cup color (or style) related tantrums that day. sheesh.

at my house, this face is almost always made over the “heart bowl.” When the heart bowl is dirty, look out. Which is just about every other day.

I know how it is! We fight over cups here too. My son likes the blue mickey mouse cup, and he doesn’t always get it. Sometimes its a fight over which shade of yellow cup its going to be. Good luck.

Looks very similar to our house. Almost anything these days seems to lead to those monster meltdowns. Favorite cup colour around the house? The kids always seem to fight over yellow cups.

I love that dress! Is it from an actual halloween costume?

OH I feel for you! My 2-year old son has had a long drawn out grumpy phase for a while now (and includes suddenly not sleeping well at night). Oh Lord, I need strength too!

I thought everyone was exaggerating when they spoke of the “terrific twos”–but I am starting to believe the fuss now.

I do have to admit that our summer has not been easy on him–a long drawn out vacation at Nanny’s (where he didn’t sleep well), moving cities and now 2 weeks of renovations with the house looking like a war-zone and me constantly saying: Don’t touch that brad nailer sweetie or leave Grampy’s saw on the floor…

My life is upside down. I miss my family and I could use a good cup of Java!

(Venting feels good!)

“I want that one…i said i wanted the Hannah Montana one first…NO you didn’t…MOM (inject tears and A LOT of screaming!!)” This is one of the most common arguments in our household at dinner-time. With 3 young ladies (if thats the proper term for phsyco Hannah Montana cup loving kids, which at times the decibels in the house are in competition with a sold out concert…but whatever you want to call them!) of my own, the “cup argument” can get out of hand some nights, i am so glad that is the biggest of their worries…for now!

b) we have no pink cups. surprisingly. given our love of pink.
c) it was matching the right lid to the right cup that was our problem.

Ah yes – my soon-to-be-two-year-old son has pulled a few of those numbers lately. I give him the benefit of the doubt – he’s usually amazingly pleasant, so it’s got to be the molars.

Fortunately, I have two boys, so not only do I not have to contend with Pretty Princess dresses (or Minnie, as the case may be), but they don’t give a flying fig WHAT they wear, as long as they’re wearing something they can “pay ow-SIGH” in. Here, it’s only rainy days that pose a threat.

This cracked me up. I remember fighting over the favourite colored cups in my house growing up too. Having two brothers and one sister, the boys would always take the “boy coloured” cups, and us girls the “girl coloured cups”. We always had blue, green, yellow and red. The boys would normally grab a blue or green and my sister and I would fight over who got the red cup. I remember fighting for the blue cup once, just to add some excitement….

A superman funtainer (thermos) is the cup most favored by my niece. There are the days that she wants to drink out of her little sisters sippies that can bring on drama if I don’t let her have one.

It does not matter what color the cup is but it better match his bowl. Life is over if he has a red cup and green bowl. It has to match. Toddlers are so much fun and so frustrating all at the same time.
