Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow

Winter’s here. My kids are loving it. They spent most of the weekend outside building a snow-fort and tobogganing.

This kid loves winter, snow, skiing, tobogganing. Today it was -30c and she came home from school annoyed that their outdoor broom-ball game was canceled.

This kid comes in a close second. I love this photo of her coming out of the snow-fort on Saturday afternoon. She was out for hours and hours. I love the flakes on her lashes.

I am so thankful that Georgia has decided putting on mittens isn’t the END of life as she knows it.

err ... a lonely trike
I don’t like it when winter sneaks up on us before the summer toys get put away. That wasn’t the case this year, just a week ago we were basking in 15c (+55f). This year the toys were put away and then due to a fabulous fall, they all came back out. You can’t win :)

I won’t tell you how much I dislike it when people complain about the weather. I won’t …

cold but sunny

There are certainly things I don’t LOVE about winter. Then again, there are things that I do love. Like this bright blue Alberta winter sky. It might have been -30 today, but it was -30 and sunny! It’s fabulous!

Tell me something you LIKE about winter :)

Awesome pics! I’m from Wyoming and we used to get snows like that when I was a kid. We used to sled down a huge hill by our house all the time.

I miss the snow!! I grew up in North Idaho and had lots of snow every winter. Currently I live in the South so snow is only a wish most of the time. We had a rare dusting for Alabama Saturday morning when I woke up. It was just beautiful!

Here in BC we are experiencing similar weather minus the snow – “sigh” however unlike some native BC’ers we LOVE this weather at our house. Cold and sunny makes for much, much happier people than wet and grey. Now send us some of that white stuff and this former prairie girl will be over the moon!

BEAUTIFUL!!
I think I would love winter more if I lived where there were blue skies like that, as well as snow! We don’t get snow here, and winter is usually just cold & wet. Not that much fun!!
BUT … you wanted us to tell you something we liked about winter … I like sitting by our wood burning fireplace and drinking hot chocolate! :-)

I wish I knew how to enjoy being cold… it’s about 25ºF here and it’s just miserable to me. What am I doing wrong? How can I learn to love it?

I don’t love being cold, but I do love how beautiful snow is! We still have rain and I’m starting to worry it won’t be a white Christmas. At least I can live vicariously through you and your crazy kids :) Good thing you take fabulous photos!

I love love love the snow and the cold! It’s my favorite season. I love sledding, snow balls, snow angels, forts, everything. I grew up in CO where they get tons of snow some years. In Maryland we get a few rare storms but at least we get something. I’m starting to like the ice storms and wish we had more of them. I love that picture of Georgia with her lashes all snowy. It looks like tons of fun!

What gorgeous photos!!
The beech trees are my favorite part of winter here. Their leaves turn a coppery color, and they stay on all winter. When you pass by a whole bunch of them it looks like a forest of copper. It’s really gorgeous…and they shine the brightest on gray day which makes a dreary day a little happier.

The only thing I like about winter is when there are those huge, fluffy snowflakes and the weather seems mild, and it looks like you’d get a beautiful picture from that (but you don’t). Other than that, I can’t stand winter.

I like about two weeks of winter……….and lots of snow to play in. The trick is getting out there and doing it. Then you can’t help but enjoy winter. That’s why the kids love it. And you are right, it’s all about dressing warmly.

My kids just so love playing in the snow to. Unfortunately mommy doesn’t like the cold wet stuff very much so daddy has to participate in most of the winter holiday activities solo.

We just got back from a snowmobile trip, and it was like 8′ deep. We got stuck 30 times. What a blast out there.

One thing I love about winter is I get to play tons of video games when it is too cold/snowy to go outside. Lots of time on black ops perks for me.
