Georgia’s First Hair Cut

in 30 Tiny Moments, Family, General

Georgia is my last baby and I am not in a hurry for her to grow up. With my oldest, I could hardly wait for the next ‘new’ stage. It makes me a little bit sad, instead of enjoying the moment, I was always pushing her to do more.

My grandma always used to tell me, not to ‘wish my life away’. I’d always get kind of cranky with her when she’d say it. SHEESH, Grandma, is it wrong to want it to be Friday already? If you’re up there Grandma, I get now – really I do.

It’s taken me 2 1/2 years to breakdown and give Georgia a hair cut. Well not really 2 1/2, she didn’t really have hair the first year. Today after her bath, as I yanked on her matted hair trying to comb out all the tangles (while she cried and begged for mercy) – I decided it was time. I had planned to take her to a salon to have it done properly, but being the impatient sort (and the lazy sort) … I decided it needed done right NOW.

Mr. MK is home sick, so I hauled him out of bed to assist and photograph. I think he was worried. Relax dude, I used to earn drinking money in University cutting hair in the guys dorm.

Geogia's First Hair Cut
It really was getting pretty long!

Geogia's First Hair Cut
She wasn’t really enthusiastic about the whole ‘cutting’ thing.

Geogia's First Hair Cut
Especially when I tried to cut her bangs.

Geogia's First Hair Cut
She was amazed when I showed her this.

Geogia's First Hair Cut
Then she let me give her a few finishing touches without too much trouble.

Geogia's First Hair Cut
She even attempted a smile.

Geogia's First Hair Cut
It turned out pretty good. Look at these curls in the back.

Geogia's First Hair Cut
Cute, eh?

Too cute! You did a great job. I’ve been cutting my daughter’s hair too… but last time my hubby brought my youngest to the barber with her and now she looks like a little boy :( Good thing hair grows!

Love her hair cut! (It’s very similar to how we keep Zoe’s cut) I just think girls look so cute with the short curls. Georgia is just too cute.

Georgia’s eyes are amazing! Oh, wait, all your kids have those…

Roo needs a haircut, too. Want to come and trim it? I’ve only done punk rock haircuts and I think she would be traumatized.

Your daughter’s eyes remind me of Liesl’s eyes in the Sound of Music. It’s such a true blue it’s hard to believe its true.

The hair cut is great. I cut my son’s bangs a few days ago because he was starting to have that sheep-dog look and I wish I had done as good of a job. Oh well! Hair grows.

She’s so darling…with ratty or cut hair. I cut my 2 year old son’s hair, too. I have to do it in the bath tub so that he stays contained. We only refill the tub about 3x so that we don’t freeze (and so that he can play in the running water…which is so much better than the standing water) and we only use about 1/2 a bottle of baby bubbles in the process. Not too bad, eh? :)

Kim, too funny – too stinkin’ funny!

Isn’t it funny that they assume it will hurt?

I love all the precious curls, but most especially, the perpetually rosy cheeks.

My 3 yr old niece needs a haircut bad. Want to give her one? She has yet to have one and the ends of her hair are looking a little snarly. I’m worried that her curls won’t come back if her hair gets cut or maybe it will make them bounce back? I have no experience with curls or how they work. I just know that the ends of her hair is curly and the top is more straight. She used to have really curly hair when she was little.

Georgia’s hair is very cute. I love her curls. That last photo is so funny.

The looks that child can give……along with your interpretations of them are so hilarious. I especially love the last photo that definitely says “Take a hike! (She looks like you in that picture :)

Her hair turned out beautiful.

@ EVERYBODY – Thanks! Every time I see her, I am surprised. She looks so different with the ‘new do’! In my best Swedish accent I say, “Hello, my name is Inge, and I’m from Sweden”. She doesn’t think it’s funny!

LOL at that last pic. She definitely has some spitfire in her! They always say the youngest are the most sure of themselves and from the looks of things Georgia fits that sterotype pretty well! Gorgeous cut.

Awww! She looks adorable with her curly blonde hair. And yeah…I’m too cheap to take Tate to a hairdresser too – so I did it myself. And yeah, I’ve had 1 lesson in my life – from my mom. That’s it. But hey, it’s not that hard – if they sit still! :)

you are far braver than i am! i thought about cutting my 3.5 year olds hair, but then i thought of all hell breaking loose and how similar those two thoughts were, so we went with a salon.

It does look really cute for a curly do! Good job.. When I finally cut H’s hair, her curls will disappear, I fear (no, not usually a poet) so I am holding out as long as I can.

I can’t believe how beautiful her eyes are!!! If she weren’t so little I’d assume they were contacts, she’s going to knock ‘em off their feet when she’s 50 (because little girls don’t grow up to date until then right?). Love the curls too, what a precious little girlie.

Very cute. You wouldn’t have gotten it any better at a salon because it would have probably freaked her out more having a stranger shove scissors in her face.

She looks so cute! I’ve broken down and finally made an appointment to take my daughter in for her first haircut on the weekend. Now the big decision: bangs or no bangs. It’s hard enough trying to decide what to do with my own hair…

You did good! Her curls are just amazing. When my oldest son was even younger than Georgia, he has ringlets in his hair! Not on top of his head or the sides, just the back. I waited to have them cut off until he was 3! My mom still got upset with me for cutting them off. Georgia looks adorable. Cindi
