The food in Phuket is yummy and cheap, all the Thais we met were very friendly and anxious to help. We stayed at Bann Thai Resort and Spa- a completely different place to the busy tourist trap in the east of Phuket City.

I used to travel a lot as a kid…i do the same now. travelling is so much fun..i really love it…Especially destinations like Argentina, Venice, Phuket are my favorites.

we didn’t travel a lot when i was kid
once we went to Black Sea and there were 7 people in the car that usually can fit 5 people :)

We took day trips often – 5 kids and my dad packed into a Volkswagon Beetle!! We kids fought over who got the “hump” in the middle in the back because when the car turned a corner you could get tossed around a bit if you were on the hump. It was fun!

My husband and I had a discussion about old skool road trips not too long ago and how much the “safety standards” had changed. My parents would push down the seat in the old Plymouth Volare, throw pillows, blankets, games and books back there and would let us (5 children) do whatever–as long as we didn’t scream or fight. (Dad has a low tolerance for high volumes). Crazy is all I can say. Nowadays, as you describe, the road trip is MUCH safer and individualistic. I don’t know how we would manage without our portable DVD player and Disney!

We took lots of road trips in an old volkswagen van. I loved those trips even when it was stinking hot in that old thing. We went all the way down to California, all the way across Canada, every summer it was a different trip! Lots of fun!

I hope you have found lots of bargains at the outlet mall. We only took a couple of road trips when I was younger, and they were fairly short, so we
didn’t get too tired of each other.
